ABIGAIL (ABI) LEWIS - Paediatric Physiotherapist

Abigail (Abi) Lewis joined the Nurture Paediatrics team in Autumn 2025. Having moved to NZ from Wales, UK, Abi's previous experience in Paediatrics has covered both acute and community settings. Abi's fun approach to physiotherapy, combined with her knowledge across multiple areas creates enjoyable treatment sessions and strong relationships with her patients. Abi is committed to giving every child the opportunity to move, play and enjoy the things they love.

Qualifications and experience

  1. Bachelors degree in Physiotherapy (2022)

  2. Rotations in the Children's Hospital for Wales acute rehabilitation teams including the neurology, neurosurgery, trauma and orthopaedic, major trauma and oncology specialities.  

  3. Community Centre care including MSK conditions, sports injuries, long term neuro rehab, early development and torticollis 

  4. Working in a special educational needs school as an on site physiotherapist

Passion areas

  1. Supporting infant and early years development of motor skills from rolling to walking independently. 

  2. Post-op rehabilitation after orthopaedic surgery and return to sport 

  3. Neurorehabilitation for Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions/ syndromes

Values in practice

  1. Meeting each child's communication style and ensuring that they feel listened to no matter how they communicate with others

  2. Making physio fun! Ensuring she delivers therapy through play when possible to create an ongoing positive experience in what can be a scary clinical environment for children

  3. Promoting activity inclusion for everyone to do what they love.

Outside of work:

Abi loves the outdoors and is happiest when she is by the sea. You can find her swimming, running, and hiking in all weathers! She enjoys exploring New Zealand and is eager to learn about our culture and lifestyle. At Nurture Paediatrics, Abi brings a compassionate and fun approach to physiotherapy, combined with her enthusiasm and passion to ensure all children have the opportunity to achieve their goals.
